This photograph showcases the striking intersection of urban development and agricultural simplicity. In the foreground, a cultivated field, lush and green, represents the age-old tradition of farming, a practice as ancient as civilization itself. Rising abruptly from this pastoral scene are the twin edifices of modern apartment buildings, their balconies and windows projecting the individuality of urban life. Between these two worlds stands a colorful, conical structure, an embodiment of contemporary art or architecture, injecting a vibrant burst of modernity into the scene. Its design and color are a stark contrast to the muted, functional forms of the residential towers and the organic rows of the field. It seems to serve as a visual bridge, connecting the earth to the sky, the old to the new. The image speaks to the layered complexities of modern living, where the rural and the urban, the natural and the man-made coexist in close proximity, yet in visually distinct layers. This coexistence raises questions about sustainability, growth, and the allocation of space in our ever-expanding urban landscapes. As an art critic, one could interpret this photo as a commentary on the juxtaposition of different eras and aspects of human life — the rural and urban dichotomy, the balance between growth and preservation, and the aesthetic interventions that seek to bring beauty and identity to utilitarian structures. The photograph captures the essence of contemporary existence, where every element, from the food we grow to the places we dwell, is a part of a larger mosaic of human expression.

Multidisciplinary artist and curator Boris Marinin was born in 1987. Holds a BFA in Screen Arts, and MFA in multidisciplinary arts at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. His artistic process is influenced mainly by self-study, the practice of frustration, and his psychoanalytic analysis. Artists Judith Sasportas, Joseph Beuys, Matthew Barney, and the musical genre Black Metal, inspired artistic decisions and are an integral part of his developmental process. In his art, Marinin tries to differentiate and capture the sublimity of nature using amorphous forms, that do not necessarily relate to the plain material world we know. With his analytical art, Marinin will take us on a journey where we will be exposed to the movement of nature, extinction, and opportunity while uncovering personal interpretations of the connection between an artist and an object in order to show us what lies behind our dimension. Boris Marinin currently lives and works in Vienna, Austria
