About The Artwork
Pain de seigle from Parisian boulangerie La Fabrique aux Gourmandises. Pain de seigle is a rye bread which is different from traditional American ryes in that it contains no caraway seeds. It always has a darker, crispier outer crust, with a soft almost doughy texture inside, and is one of my favorite breads in France. La Fabrique aux Gourmandises was founded by Lionel Bonnamy and has won first prize for Best Croissant Île de France region 2019, and first prize Best Almond Galette Île de France region 2021. It is located in the 14th arrondissement. The original was created in oil pastel on acid free 250g A5 paper.

In addition to creating fine art for over 30 years, Benjamin has worked in film and photography, as well as in fashion as a self-taught shoemaker. His current collection is inspired by our connection to history, culture, craftsmanship, and to each other through an everyday object - bread.
