My painting is inspired by the Holy scriptures. It captures the poignant moment Mary Magdalene washed the feet of Jesus Christ with her expensive perfume, her tears and wipes them with her long hair. She looks sad because she knows he would soon be humiliated and killed with proper Jewish burial rites. Thankfully, even after Christ died, he rose from the dead on the third day...and appeared first to the same Mary. She is a beautiful soul who was knowledgeable about the scriptures much more than all the men in that room. They were judgmental based on looks and history. Jesus looked at the thoughts and the heart..We should endeavour to do the same. This painting is one of my 'Women in the Bible series'.
