About The Artwork

Each individual builds a story. Even the simplest people have teachings to transmit, their beliefs, skills, wisdom. I consider it a privilege to be able to perpetuate life stories through my art. Maria was a washerwoman from the São Francisco River (affectionately known as old Chico). She was afraid because she imagined seeing the frowns of the boats waving in the distance. Maria left her small town Pirapora in search of an new life in the big city. She was welcomed into my great-grandmother's house, and told my mother many stories from popular culture. This painting is being shown in the River in Motion exhibition, at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation Museum of Life, in Rio de Janeiro. The exhibition began on December 20, 2019, it was interrupted at the beginning of the pandemic, and then it was reassembled. Due to the great success of visitation, the exhibition was extended by two years, finished at December, 20, 2023. You can watch videos about the exhibition at: 1) https://youtu.be/mFbMcL7KrQ8

I'm a Brazilian artist from Rio de Janeiro. In my artwork I use linear movements involving geometric and organic shapes that dialogue between vivid colors. I create figurative contemporary and abstract images. My main theme is about biodiversity and natural resources. _http://www.flickr.com/photos/rodrigoandrian/ _https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XcKrCWtiuI&t=31s
