The paintings offered here are the co-work of two Latvian artists - Juta Policja & Mareks Gureckis.

We as Juta & Mareks are painting together already for more than 15 years. Although the themes in our paintings are various, there are six of them which are most common: landscape, woman, mechanics, motion, game and vase. We are certain that the story in the picture is not what involves artist in painting. We are fascinated by the process itself, fascinated by the way how the shape, space, colour and light are reproduced on canvas. For us it is impossible to use just one theme, because they always overlap. Woman in movement, motion as sence, time or mechanical action. We attempt to create a feeling that the movement will once continue.

At the beginning we painted separately, until an incidental occasion lead us to a collectively created painting. When you paint in the same studio, the mutual influence is inescapable. That is why we paint together and sign together. In this way we stimulate each other.
