Established documentary photographer based in England, UK. Well-known for the long-term documentary projects '42' and 'Girls in the Ring' which have been showcased nationally and internationally.

In between long assignments I photograph botanical scenes within the landscape and lanes of my home county, the East Riding of Yorkshire.

These are now available as open edition prints.
Work
Former newspaper journalist, turned freelance photojournalist and photographer, working for British national newspapers, magazines and books. Since 2007 involved in long-term documentary projects '42' (about the women of Sierra Leone in West Africa) and 'Girls in the Ring' (about the female amateur boxers of Yorkshire). Work is published and exhibited internationally. Lecture series undertaken in UK and America. Read More
Education
Awarded Honorary Degree (D Litt) by the University of Hull for services to photojournalism. Self-taught photographer who has learned whilst on assignment around the world and through training with National Geographic legends James L. Stanfield and Sam Abell.
Photographic and artistic influences include Eve Arnold, Georgia O'Keeffe, John Blakemore, Laura Knight, and of course James L. Stanfield and Sam Abell.
