About

Born September 10th 1981 in Freedom,Pennsylvania.
Currenty living in Maryland.

I believe that one's emotional identity is composed of the gradual and perpetual evolution of their collective experiences. Each experience can have a seemingly endless chain of consequences or advantages that make up the unique identity each one of us carves for our self simply by existing. One's dreams, fears, hates and desires are all a part of that identity. In a world full of symbols we are constantly being bombarded by our experiences through memory via imagery. A brand of car or a company logo can trigger the entire experience of a human relationship with a glance. Or a single white flower in a field of red buds might remind someone of a moment from their childhood which contributed to an endless chain of personality traits. These images for us come to represent our unique identities.

I project symbolic images which relate to the subjects experiences onto them and paint their portrait as if the experience is being projected from them. Through these portraits, a universal mythos of experience can be triggered in which the viewer finds themselves reflecting not only upon the subjects experience, but also upon their own unique identity. Abstraction of the image by the subjects physical appearance only increases the possibility of a shared experience between the viewer and subject. For instance, a slide of a tube of paint projected upon an artist struggling with her work may at first quick glance appear to be a gag over their mouth, representing to the viewer not only an artistic conflict, but also any conflict or imposition in which a person comes to feel constrained. In a way I am attempting to reveal a fraction of the human soul projecting from each portrait and thus form a relationship between the subject, viewer and myself. Read More
