CLAUDIA YAGNAM (Ovalle, Chile 1962)

Claudia Yagnam’s artwork is multi-disciplinary. She lives and works in Santiago, Chile. Having received diplomas from the Bob Borowicz School of Photogaphy and from the School of Art and Architecture at the Universidad Catolica de Chile, she also studied Classical and Contemporary Philosophy in the humanities department at the Universidad Adolfo Ibañez in Santiago, as well as Theology, Christianity and Psychology at the Instituto Los Dominicos, also in Santiago.

She received a scholarship to participate in Professor Veronica Astaburuaga’s sculpture studio in the school of art at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile in Santiago. She also partook in oil painting studios at the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Valparaiso and in gouache painting workshops with the artist Ignacio Salas in Santiago. Likewise she has been an art appreciation instructor in painter Francisco de la Puente’s studio as well as in printmaker Andres Vivo’s studio.

She received her education as a printmaker under Javiera Moreira and later joined her collective printmaking studio “Puerta Verde” as a resident artist. Presently Ms. Yagnam is participating in a serigraphy studio directed by artist Nelson Plaza at Universidad de Chile in Santiago. Simultaneously she is developing and managing cultural projects and exhibitions both in Chile and abroad.

She presented her work and received second place in the photography competition and exhibition at the Colegio Medico de Chile. She also participated in the group exhibition of wood sculpture at the School of Art and Architecture at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile in Santiago and in the group exhibition at “Puerta Verde” printmaking studio in Santiago. She was also one of the artists in the three women exhibition of Chilean art “Tres Mujeres, Dos Tierras” at Galeria Brio in San Juan. Puerto Rico.

She has shown her work both in the group exhibition titled “Kineticos: El movimiento Perpetuo” at Galeria Atrium and in the exhibit titled “Taller Puerta Verde” at Galeria Blanc, both in Santiago. She has an upcoming joint show with fine artist Ethel Presser at the Universidad de Talca gallery in Santiago, Chile. Ms. Yagnam is also preparing for a solo exhibit in 2012 at the Museo de Limarí in Chile’s Fourth Region.

Vive y trabaja en Santiago de Chile. Su formación es multidisciplinaria: Diplomada en la Escuela de Fotografía de Bob Borowicz (1995) y en la Escuela de Artes y Arquitectura de la Pontificia Universidad Católica (1999), ha cursado estudios de Filosofía Clásica y Contemporánea en la Escuela de Humanidades de la Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, además de Teología, Cristianismo y Sicología en el Instituto Los Dominicos en Santiago (2004).

Becada en el taller de escultura de la profesora Verónica Astaburuaga, en la Escuela de Arte de la Universidad Católica en Santiago, ha participado a la vez en el taller de pintura al óleo en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Valparaíso y en el taller de pintura gouache con el artista Ignacio Salas en la capital. Asimismo, se ha instruido en apreciación del arte, tanto en el taller del artista y pintor Francisco de la Puente, como del artista y grabador Andrés Vio.

Bajo la docencia de la artista Javiera Moreira, ha recibido su formación en grabado, incorporándose posteriormente como artista libre en el taller colectivo “Puerta Verde”. En la actualidad, participa en un taller de serigrafía de la Universidad de Chile, dirigido por el artista Nelson Plaza. De manera simultánea a la producción artística, está realizando proyectos de gestión cultural, tanto en Chile como el extranjero.

Ha presentado su obra y obtenido el segundo lugar en el concurso y muestra fotográfica realizada en el Colegio Médico de Chile. También ha participado en la muestra colectiva de escultura en madera en la Escuela de Arte y Arquitectura de la Pontificia Universidad Católica y en la muestra colectiva del taller “Puerta Verde” en Santiago de Chile, además de presentar su creación en la muestra colectiva de arte chileno “Tres Mujeres, Dos Tierras”, en la Galería / Brío, en San Juan de Puerto Rico.

Ha exhibido su trabajo en las exposiciones colectivas "Kinéticos: El Movimiento Perpetuo”, en Galería Artium y “Taller Puerta Verde” en Galería Blanc, en Santiago y próximamente expondrá en una muestra junto a la artista Ethel Presser, en la sala de la Universidad de Talca, sede Santiago. Además se encuentra preparando una exhibición individual en el Museo del Limarí, IV región de Chile, en 2012.
