About The Artwork
This sculpture was carved from a single piece of cotton wood found in Southwest Colorado. The inspiration for this sculpture was a birds wing. The lightness of weight of the cotton wood made me think of an airplane and I wanted to translate the soft nature of the wood as a birds feather. The base is made from cotton wood and was created by using a scribe fit technique that is used in building log homes. This created a flawless transition from the sculpture to the base of the sculpture. This sculpture has a spiritual energy, that has the eye of God located at the top, and a heart near the center, that I relate to as The Mother Mary's heart. The sculpture encompasses both modern art and modern rustic art.
