About The Artwork
The scarab beetle was associated with the divine manifestation of the early morning sun, and represented the cycle of life and death. In the case of this assemblage the scarab symbol is an abstraction floating above the two cedar shapes. This piece is a meditative portal. I construct with wood because I believe it is the perfect material to embrace and condense the true silence that once existed.

Being an artist was a given in my family, one in which my mother and grandfather were both committed artists. I spent every summer of my youth on the shores of Bois Blanc Island, a pristine jewel that would eventually inform and inspire my work. Currently I am focusing on wooden assemblages which are constructed of various woods and found objects. They are in preparation for three upcoming invitational shows.
