About The Artwork
My current work involves drilling holes into pallets and literally sewing into them with colourful thread. Through this work I try to question the feminine qualities generally associated with thread and sewing. The man made and mass produced qualities of the pallets juxtapose with the delicacy of the thread. The function of the pallets, usually used to shift heavy goods from place to place, is changed making them into desirable art objects.

I specialize in sculpture and am currently in her final year at Cardiff school of art and design. My sculpture and installations primarily question why colour is usually associated with the feminine or decorative in sculpture. I have always been interested in using a variety of time consuming and repetitive processes which are typically associated with the feminine such as sewing. My current work involves using every day found objects and sewing into them with colourful thread. Through this work I try to question traditional notions of femininity by combining soft ephemeral materials with inflexible, "˜man-made' objects.
