This work is inspired by the plight of the elephant and many other animals which are approaching extinction. I found the circuit board on the seashore in Penzance on a beach clean, the wood similarly was found on the streets of my home town. I collect 50s and 60s plastic toys which have a patina all their own from their previous lives in homes around the UK. All these things get washed up into my studio where they come together. No new materials were used to make this sculpture only a very small amount of glue. As a vegan I try not to have any impact on the environment during the production of my work. Our daily beach cleans actually, I hope, contribute to a cleaner marine environment. I call my style antique, it gives the pieces a timelessness and I hope encourage people to be aware of human impact on this planet. I use the word humanimal to encompass my practice.
