About The Artwork

Story background: My wife and I had the opportunity of being able to go up behind our home, many times and enjoy each other’s company in the Wasatch National Forest. This particular night we found we could spend some time together, so we grab some food and water and went on the 4 wheeler‘s to our favorite spot overlooking the valley. It took at least 40 minutes to get in there, because of the rough terrain and we wanted to get there and back before dark. We were enjoying ourselves and the beautiful scenery with the wonderful pine fragrance surrounding us. Time passed too quickly, and it was time to get back. It got dark fast and the headlights on the ATV was all we had in the dim sunlight. Above the sound of the engine, we heard loud snapping and breaking of limbs, and the Earth was tremoring, which took us by surprise. I stopped the ATV and watched as a big bull elk with a majestic rack, leaped across the dirt road. He easily cleared the pile of logs and rocks in front of its path. My wife, a bit startled, and shaken, said with a sheepish grin, “that might be a good sculpture for you to make”. And so “ Majestic Glory “ became a sculpture. Hope you enjoy the action it Portrays.

John was born and raised in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Near Park City Utah. It was only natural that he was influenced by his surroundings. When John was young, he would slip away into the foothills to observe and watch as much wildlife as he could get close to. He was captivated by the beauty and the grace of each animal and bird displayed. It wasn’t until John was in college that he found. He had a helmet hidden talent. He found a piece of light green clay in the art department on the shelf. The professor that was teaching a class told him to take it home and try out the new medium and let her know what he thought. This opened up a new world for John, however, there was not any classes that were offered teaching Finearts sculpting. So John, in his spare time outside the classroom began his learning process. He not only learned how to sculpture with that new block of found clay, but also became proficient in the lost wax process. John not only is a sculptor, but takes each of his sculptures to the entire lost wax, casting process to the finished product. John now devotes most of his time in sculpting, and leaves the foundry work to the foundries.
