About The Artwork
Eclipse, the sole standalone prototype for an evolving larger work (New Moon of Perception), making only two in this new limited collection. Choosing to embrace natural imperfections found in all things, Eclipse highlights a moving sphere’s inclusion, rather than discard or replace it for a representation of perfection. Incorporating the ‘Seven Principles of Art Design’ - balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, rhythm, and variety, Mr. Haynie first draws his sculptures by hand. Hand cut and welded in stages, each stainless steel curve is dependent on the arc of the other. Valuing the juxtaposition of meaningful depth and humor, Mr. Haynie once alternatively referred to his abstract on human perception, ‘Tyrannosaurus Pacman’.

I was born and raised in the panhandle of west Texas ( the Llano Estacado) where I now live. I started making welded metal sculpture after taking a welding course. Making sculpture was a hobby until I began to consign my work for sale in galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I exhibit at SHIDONI Gallery outside Santa Fe, I have exhibited there for twenty years.
