"Discobolus" Sculpture

From the series "Classic". Project contain antique busts plaster casts, «blown up» and re-collected with some deformation. The internal planes of different size fragments filled with colorful and shiny smalt and make contrast with a mate white plaster surface. «Ancient sculpture has certainly become a symbol of artistic education. From the plaster casts begins basic learning the realistic art - drawing and painting. In the project Aleksei Mikheev produces a «figurative explosion» by destroying the classic white form with a splash of color, transforming not only the traditional contours, but also giving a new depth by vital artistic actions» AB
