Reading the book The Lady of the Game, written by feminist philosopher Luisa Muraro, inspired me to do a series of portraits of women sentenced to death during the Inquisition. The woman in this portrait Margherita Tessadrello, known as the Tessadrella, a witch from Tesero, condemned in 1504, who “never shut up.”
