About The Artwork

Clubs and Spades. Nestled within a larger series that has gracefully woven itself into K-Liee's artistic narrative, it unfolds as a captivating game—one played with the poetic symphony of four elements, four suits of cards. This unfolding saga is incomplete, for the hearts and diamonds, like gems in the making, linger in the realm of K-Liee's imagination, still under the gentle caress of her artistic hands. In the genesis of 2022, these were not mere paintings on wooden sheets; they were tales etched into the fibers of each stroke. Their premiere graced the grand stage of Scope Art, Art Basel in Miami, casting an enchantment upon the beholders. From the wooden canvases, they metamorphosed into a series of prints, an evolution that unfolded with finesse at Art on Paper in New York in 2023. The architect of this visual symphony, gazes upon these creations with a satisfaction tempered by the elusive nature of words. Unlike many of her masterpieces, these defy verbal articulation of the complex web of emotions and inspirations that birthed them. Time, a trusted companion in K-Liee's artistic voyage, is bestowed upon these works, a period of contemplation that often spans over two decades. Only then does she fully grasp the intricacies of her own muse. The motif of cards dances recurrently in K-Liee's art, finding its place not only on canvas but also in the sculpted realms. The future of this theme remains an enigma, a blank card waiting to be drawn, as her fount of inspiration manifests in myriad forms across her diverse series. Seize these pieces, for they are but whispers of her artistic journey. This piece reveals the silhouette of legs adorned with the symbology of a card suit, a visual sonnet crafted through the delicate dance of giclee print, silkscreen, and the gilded embrace of gold leaf—a testament to K-Liee's mastery in weaving narratives that transcend the boundaries of the tangible and the ethereal.
