About The Artwork
This monotype was one of a series of prints that I created at Il Bisonti studio in Florence, Italy. The colors, textures and weathered stone of the city were inspiration for my abstract work. PAVIMENTO is framed using a white acid free mat, a whitewashed wood studio frame and covered with plexiglas. It is ready to hang. A monotype is a single impression made from a plate that has been inked or painted on. Monotypes are known as the most painterly methods among the printmaking techniques - it is essentially a printed painting.

Growing up in New York City was a great experience and has influenced my outlook on art and life. I have lived in California for many years now where I am close to both a major urban area and the beautiful Pacific Ocean, surrounded by incredible natural beauty. I am able to draw from many cultures for inspiration that influences my artwork, such as the Japanese concepts of wabi sabi and notan, and of haiku poetry. My series of Haiku Threads paintings reflect that influence.
