'OASIS / diptych - right' and 'OASIS / diptych - left' as a set. The individual listings of the diptych can be viewed further below, where they have received 'Favorites' - here I have just replaced another item with this offer. 'OASIS / diptych' was conceived and printed in 2010. It will become increasingly important in its being related to 'Oa51s_homageCYF', a conceptual artwork that has been published in 2017 and can be found on top of this webpage. One of the connection points is the use of ready-mades and other correlating points are discussed in the related listings. Ready-made items (wood, leather, metal) not or altered just slightly, have been hand printed in the technique of gravure/intaglio where the deep parts carry the printable ink - limited to seven prints. These images talk about an oasis - the oasis of our planet - located in the endless desert of our universe. You may discover the milky way, our blue planet with clouds and a continent - being shaped of someone still in the oasis of their mother's womb. For the sake of open edition prints / better visibility the virtual images have been placed upon a mat that appears in bright white. Just in the photo the edges have been cut straight, whereas the physical prints are done on a high quality deckle-edged printing paper, therefore slightly larger than in the photo; 53 x 86 cm. It's a seven piece limited edition, what sells is a set of either #1, #2 or #3.

London-based artist works with found objects, printed ready-mades as well as wood and bronze sculptures. Samuel Buttner exhibits internationally, has received awards and commissions for art in public spaces, and his work is held in both private and public collections. 'Remembering how my drawings as an eight-year-old received much attention, then opportunities for training during my teenage years leading to an education of professional wood sculptor. During my mid-twenties that enigmatic pull into social work with creativity for children and engagement in the special educational needs sector. The sculptor, printmaker and conceptual artist is grounded in life drawing, anatomical studies, and plein air painting. Much of the above would befriend me with Vincent van Gogh, valuing that eye-brain-hand-coordination for authentic, ecstatic expressiveness. Being equally aware how the subconscious gets visualized where it has been said that positive stimuli is evident as well as an artist philosopher, hence resonating with the like Marcel Duchamp exploring that limitless creativity-of-the-mind; that which is outside the box.'
