About The Artwork

Giclee Print on Somerset Enhanced Velvet paper 330 gr Malevich, Black Hand and Squatting Lady, Princess Frog, together form a diptych, a recurring theme in K-Liee's art. This symbolism, much like the sun and the moon, day and night, black and white, holds great importance for K-Liee in conveying essential contrasts within her artistic expressions. Malevich, Black Hand and Squatting Lady, Princess Frog, are two captivating ideas that originated during K-Liee's inaugural residency at La Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris. This residency marked a pivotal juncture in her artistic journey, serving as an enriching exploration that allowed her creativity to flourish. K-Liee fondly describes this experience as a revelation, opening her eyes to the enchanting wonders beyond the confines of the Soviet Union. The realization that the world was vast and culturally vibrant, extending far beyond the borders of her homeland, ignited her imagination with fresh and innovative concepts. The accessibility to some of the world's finest artworks and the sheer beauty of Paris served as powerful catalysts, inspiring K-Liee to craft these pieces that have become an integral and cherished part of her artistic expression. In 2023, recognizing the enduring significance of these creations, she decided to reintroduce them digitally, creating prints that immediately captivated the market with their allure. K-Liee attributes the success of these pieces to the transformative experience she underwent during their creation—a crystallization of her sense of wonder and sheer joy in exploring both the world and her art.
