Leaf Infusion II - Limited Edition of 1 Print

As an avid gardener, I use my garden as a muse quite often. In this work, I chose lively colors to emphasize the lyrical quality of the flora I was depicting...I wanted it to be a happy piece that would make its owner smile even on a dark winter day! I often combine print media, and in this case, I created two solar etching plates (which are a non-toxic way to do an etching). I then inked and printed those, and later added a glaze monotype layer to further infuse more color into the work. The image is 10" x 8", centered on a half sheet of Fabriano hot press paper from Italy that measures 22" x 15". This piece is a variant of two color ways, each of the two prints decisively different. The other one is violet, pink and green, creating a much more subdued atmosphere. The work may be floated or matted before putting in your favorite frame.
