About The Artwork

The wooden board that was printed in this unique woodprint series was entirely shaped by RABBITS gnawing – printed in the technique of relief print where the high parts carry the printable ink - the front and then its back being printed in mirroring juxtaposition. I had only this one board in this length - apart from four shorter boards that I talk about in my listing "The Fall / The Man / The Rise / The Feast". I interpreted the image with complementary sides in a person, like outside/inside, body/soul, mind/emotions, etc. - twenty piece limited edition - each being a unique colour original - the ink being applied via roller and spatula - selling unframed. I like the free semi-abstract shapes as just rabbits would do it - and in how figurative shapes can be perceived. For the sake of open edition prints / better visibility the image is placed upon a mat that appears in bright white - the print sells without that backing. Just in the photo the edges have been cut straight - the printing paper is therefore very slightly larger than in the photo. Presently are three of the unique colour original 'Composite I' prints for sale. You may view OTHER WORKS that relate to working with RABBITS - in these listings further above: "The Fall / The Man / The Rise / The Feast"; https://www.saatchiart.com/art/Printmaking-The-Fall-The-Man-The-Rise-The-Feast-Limited-Edition-4-of-40/385342/3470434/view - also: "Listening One and Watchman"; https://www.saatchiart.com/art/Sculpture-Listening-One-and-Watchman/385342/3196320/view - thank you.

London-based artist works with found objects, printed ready-mades as well as wood and bronze sculptures. Samuel Buttner exhibits internationally, has received awards and commissions for art in public spaces, and his work is held in both private and public collections. 'Remembering how my drawings as an eight-year-old received much attention, then opportunities for training during my teenage years leading to an education of professional wood sculptor. During my mid-twenties that enigmatic pull into social work with creativity for children and engagement in the special educational needs sector. The sculptor, printmaker and conceptual artist is grounded in life drawing, anatomical studies, and plein air painting. Much of the above would befriend me with Vincent van Gogh, valuing that eye-brain-hand-coordination for authentic, ecstatic expressiveness. Being equally aware how the subconscious gets visualized where it has been said that positive stimuli is evident as well as an artist philosopher, hence resonating with the like Marcel Duchamp exploring that limitless creativity-of-the-mind; that which is outside the box.'
