'This is not an endless abyss, Photograph

Throughout my degree at Goldsmiths I have had the chance to explore recurrent themes around the Gothic in literature, film and of course art. I have looked at Gothic motifs such as the haunted castle, monsters, and the presence of supernatural elements. It is all these features that still characterize most of todays Gothic music, art and cinema, but unlike in the past, they are almost used nostalgically , in a desperate, and most often ridiculous attempt to recreate haunting and mysterious atmospheres and consequently become clichs that are often funny.
