About The Artwork

This was one of the first photos I took in my Overlooked series. It remains one of my favorites and has been one of the most popular of this series. I think people gravitate to the start juxtaposition between the dead plant and bright yellow sidewalk pad. I have wavered between seeing fertility and life in this image versus the opposite.

Robert Heavrin is an LA-based photographer and urbanist. He is the founder and curator of munDAAANG! magazine, which showcases photos of seemingly mundane urban scenes. These two projects, and his photography, are reflective of his aspiration to illuminate the beauty in the overlooked.
