In December 2021, I did a month long challenge to shoot one random plant or flower everyday, that I found in Bali. Within a year, It formed into a collection, FLOWERS + PLANTS. Each plant has its own structure veins, organs, texture, fibre, similar to a human body. Observing how it’s all perfectly connected inspired me, it opened a new world of hidden parts, that are not obviously visible at first sight. Nature has a way of revealing both simplicity and complexity at the same time This piece was created in 2023, it is part of the FLOWERS + PLANTS collection. Solandra Grandiflora Limited edition of 5 +2 AP. Printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® Ultra Smooth 305 gsm 100% cotton This edition is signed in the right corner on the front. ‘Life is a journey, we live and die and all that in between is a miracle of the unknown, until it is discovered.’ Alina Vlasova Born in Russia, Last 11 years living in Bali. Self-taught photographer, visual artist. The roots of my passion into photography started in my childhood. I was always curious to observe life, people, nature, and all that I came into contact with. My father gifted me an analog camera when I was 11 years old. From that moment on I taught myself how to mix chemicals, develop film, and print on paper. Initially, photography became a deeply personal and transformative practice, allowing me to better understand myself and the world we live in, to explore life and what is behind the ‘visible’. As I furthered my practice I realised how valuable it was to not only express my own perspective but to invoke the imagination and emotions of the viewer, to give space for a deeper meaning.
