A few years ago, I had been accepted to an artist's residency and I was thrilled! It was for November and I was excited to explore the midwest prairie that was adjacent to the property. Every day I walked the prairie but everything was dead and colorless due to the cold temperatures. It was bleek and I was discouraged. The last few days I found these leaves! I don't know what plant this is but I was amazed at its sculptural elements and firmness. A good lesson in that I only had to look harder to find what I was looking for. I hope the viewer can appreciate the beauty in these leaves and feel peaceful and amazed.
