About The Artwork

As a photographer, I am intrigued by the complex visual textures of concrete and the dynamic shadows that fall on buildings. Over the past years, I have been inspired by the BAUHAUS movement, particularly its trans-media, trans-arts approach, which goes against the purity and media essentialism of many modernist abstractionists. This philosophy has influenced my work, where I aim to capture and convey the fascination of juxtaposing abstract geometries with the rawness of reality. My designs use intricate geometric forms and organic lines to mirror the interplay between man-made structures and natural elements in the urban landscape. The concept of musicality in visual arts plays a crucial role in my artistic approach. The rhythm, harmony, and balance created by the forms within a composition transcend visual representation and provide the images with autonomy beyond any object of reference. My artistic objectives are deeply influenced by the Bauhaus movement's focus on art's social relevance, and I strive to create artworks that explore the complex cultural, human, and environmental layers that shape our world. I aim to deliver a vivid and compelling portrayal of the subject matter that inspires a deep appreciation for the world around us. The technique combines photography and geometric forms inspired by Bauhaus design principles, capturing the essence of a bustling city and a peaceful oasis. I created a sense of movement and energy through the dynamism and rhythm inherent in the shapes and energy. For instance, the downward-facing triangle provides a sense of dynamic movement with its sharp edges and pointed direction. At the same time, the blue ellipsis on the lower side represents a tranquil water pond where water flows gently, evoking a sense of calm. The yellow hue adds a cheerful and bright contrast, enhancing the overall energy and vibrancy of the composition.

I am a New Yorker from Queens. When I started drawing in my teenage years, my father taught me to look at the architecture of Bucharest, Romania, with a keen eye for perspective, balance, and proportions. Analytic perception has accompanied me ever since. Arriving in New York City, my photographic interest turned to the city's signature architecture. I systematically explored specific themes, such as the effects of light or the perception of waves. I have exhibited my artwork in group shows at the Huntington Arts Council in New York (2020), LIK Gallery in Vienna (2021), and online at the Visual Artists Association in London (2023). My latest work, "New York City Bauhaus," explores trans-artistic movements in the US. One piece was included in a juried exhibition at The CENTER for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, NJ (early 2024), and another was displayed at the Atlantic Gallery in NYC in March 2024.
