The mouth, releasing liquid chocolate marries the sensual representation of Baroque art with the aesthetics of modern art. The work recalls the vibrant still lifes of the Baroque era, such as Willem Claesz Heda's masterpieces, where the sensual pleasures of food and luxury goods take center stage. The portrayed sweet treat and the craving for it work in a similar manner to the opulent banquet tables of the 17th century. In the context of the 20th and 21st century, this piece recalls the sculptures of Janine Antoni, particularly "Lick and Lather", where she used chocolate as a medium to reflect on corporeality and transience. Here, as with Antoni, the sweet becomes a metaphor, a symbol of desire and transience. A delicious testament to the tension between classic sensuality and contemporary desire.

The focus of ARTURUTRA is mouths. Yet these fragmented bodies do not conform to classical portraits. They often resemble staged still lifes. The works are characterized by a narrative ambiguity. The viewer sees and must fill in the missing elements themselves. Perhaps they view with the eyes constantly absent in the works. Then, the depicted mouths speak with the inner voice of the observer.
