About The Artwork
The Prisengracht Series is a study in urban environmental observations. Perceptual illusions through movement, pattern and light are a continuum in my paintings, drawings, print work and photographic studies. Prisengracht is one of many creative zones in the city, one of my favorite collections of galleries, artist’s and unique object ateliers as well as famous museums. Armed with a small-format camera with Leica lens, my observations of this busy transportation canal were captured and collected based upon movement, color and visual vibration, creating a series of momentary glimpses of reflected life. Each of the twenty images in this series has been carefully crafted on handmade paper in three sizes in editions of ten. Each work is an Archival Pigment printed with Epson inks, signed and numbered on the front with some details in pencil in reverso.

Capturing and retracing my journeys in the natural and urban environments result in unexpected juxtapositions. Utilizing pattern, light and nuances of the tamed and untamed aspects in my environment enable me to offer an unexpected perception of the landscape.
