About The Artwork
La Catedral de la Virgen María de la Concepción Inmaculada de La Habana is one of eleven Roman Catholic cathedrals on the island of Cuba. It is located in the Plaza de la Catedral in the center of Old Havana. With limited entertainment options on government-owned television, this older man prefers to spend his days sitting on the side of the cathedral greeting neighbors and passers by, occasionally alternating his position to avoid the blazing sun. I traveled to Cuba the following year to learn he had died of a heart attack. I had brought him a print of this image. Printed on an Epson Ultra Chrome Archival printer. Paper size is 11"x17". Signed by the artist.

My career was in the aerospace industry photographing and writing about the Space Shuttle Program and exploratory missions. Now retired, I am dedication my energies to photography full time.
