Wherever I go, I look for subject matter like this and was delighted when I found these stairs in London. They had been renovated and were looking beautiful in very Art Deco way. The combination of curve and hard edge always works for me. I spent quite a long time going up and down the stairs to find the optimum spot to use. I have chosen to print to this size myself as I have complete control over the tonality. Printed with the highest quality archival inks on Canson Baryta Photographique 310 gsm paper, which translates Black and White in much the same way that traditional wet process paper does. Paper size is 48.3cm x 32.9cm. Image size is 45 cm x 28.3 cms. Signed, dated, titled and edition number on verso. Sent with a Certificate of Authenticity

Born in 1955 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and could not wait to get away. Spent time after finishing an ignominious school career in Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan Pakistan, India and Nepal. Then studied Photography at Sheffield Poly, starting in 1979. Did Teacher Training and taught for 1 year at a school in North London which was more than enough. Subsequently worked for Warner Brothers in a non photographic capacity and the BBC both Teaching and Photographing. I have recently returned to working with traditional, wet processes alongside digital. The images in my portfolio start in the 70's and go through to the present day. www.ianhoskin.co.uk
