Archival pigment inks on a clear acrylic sheet in a unique 'virtual' frame. Canned Fish is part of the 'Surreal Fishions' series - a collection of witty observations on the fast food industry. A factory-fresh fish supper for the digital age which took nearly twenty years to prepare! The picture of the sardine can was taken on good, old-fashioned film in the UK in the early 1990's and the rather sad-looking fish was 'captured' digitally in Thailand in 2011. The two images were happily married in a computer in the same year and are still together. The virtual frame looks exactly as it appears in the listing photographs - including the 'reflections' and the 'shadows'. The whole image (including the frame) is printed directly onto the back of a sheet of clear acrylic using Epson's K3 archival pigment inks - art in its purest form! The high gloss of the acrylic complements the rich colors of the image to produce a stunning work of art. A signed hand-written label for the back of the print is included. Materials used a sense of humour, one lugubrious fish, one sardine can, a computer, one large sheet of acrylic, light, silver, impeccable craftsmanship, dedication, blood, sweat & tears. PLEASE NOTE - the edition number of the print you receive will not necessarily correspond with that shown in the listing photograph.

Thailand
Art Grafts was born in 2011 in the small provincial town of Roi-Et in the Northeast of Thailand. He is the brainchild and alter ego of the English fine art photographer Dominic Rouse who is better known for his darkly surreal black and white photographs. Surreal Eye Editions was created in order to create a clear distinction between the artist's black & white fine art photographs and his more commercial graphic works.
