About The Artwork

Experimental Work using 'A Play On Words' text with other materials. My work revolves around words and ideas. Words can contain, separate and categorise us especially as women. Words like beauty, femininity create a platform of acceptance or rejection surrounding us in our everyday existence. I am interested in the power and authority of Language. I am interested in how language is perceived. I am interested in how language is received. I am interested in how language is delivered. I am interested in the gravity and impact of language. The written word is a feast for the eyes. The spoken word a feast for the ears. This work a feast for touch, bringing language into a lived experience. This works seeks to bring words into a new consideration and provide another way of looking at language, making it a physical presence. I am interested in contradicting its strength and potency in the realm of the page by creating an impotent, physicality to it, rending it benign. An outer working of an inner dialogue, responding to the use of language to distort, and manipulate demonstrated by the effect of the gravitational pull in its materialistic form.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My practice has evolved through many materials and forms but continues to manifest itself as installation, photography or sculpture, sometimes a mixture of all three. Currently, I have become intrigued by language and although language ideology is a relatively new dimension to the work, it is one I have investigated in this current work A Play On Words (2011). This work is an interrogator of language, its power and authority and the impact it has on the individual to create barriers of class and gender. A linguistic sparring between viewer and the work occurs causing questions to be asked but leaving the response to personal interpretation. My intention is to bring a sense of lived experience of language within a quiet subtle space. This echoes a desire to make work that creates an intimate, reflective space leaving a residue of lived experience within the viewer long after they have departed.
