Available for sale upon request. In 1995 I went to Ghana for the first time with my mother, who had not visited in 30 years. This project was the final project completed during my degree, and this really shaped the way in which I saw myself; my identity and who I was. Coming from London, I was frequently questioned about where I was from, so it was imperative to find out about my heritage. This urged me to visit Ghana. It was wonderful to meet members of my Mother's family from Ghana. Photographing in colour was really important to this series of works; as at the time, a lot of images in the media of Africa were taken of those experiencing famine, in black and white, and for charitable causes. This was not the case in the part of Africa that I visited. I hope those viewing this series will get a wider perspective of Africa during this period. You as the viewer will see the work taken from my first experience of Ghana in 1995. The people in the images are family and friends that knew my mother before she left Ghana.
