You Were Loved Painting

After a particularly difficult decision to break up with the beautiful boy in my life, I decided to paint my heartache away instead of my regular practice of burning the artifacts that remind me of my lovers. This man was special. He taught me that love was possible even when you aren't compatible, so I needed to do something beautiful to memorialize what he meant to me. I represented my feelings for him in bold jewel-toned colors swirled together in a dirty pour technique, just like the gorgeous mess that was our emotions. I added gold leaf to symbolize the beauty of my growing love that glowed as it caught his light. I used basic white over the foundation of color to relay the simplicity of what we appeared to be, but beneath the skin, there was more depth, we were much more complex. I loved him dearly and my hope is that it can be felt when my painting is viewed.
