About The Artwork
With this series of paintings I go back to the basics of applying paint onto a flat rectangular surface. The paint is acrylic which I have been using for over fifty years and the surface is stretched canvas. The composition is determined by the rectangular limits of the painting itself. Within those limits rectilinear structures are built up, layered, erased, and reassembled using solid, hard edged rectangular forms contrasting with more painterly and expressive brush work.
