‘Wisdom Written in the Sands” uses neutral and earth tones in expressive and textured movements to convey the fleeting nature of attention, and the folly of ignoring the wisdom of the ages. Whether written in the desert dunes, a dry river bed, or upon the sand at the edge of the water lapping at the seashore, the tides will turn, the rains will fall, and the winds will blow, erasing all trace of even the most profound words of wisdom scrawled in their sands. It is a reminder to value and protect the wisdom of the ages for we are truly standing on the shoulders of giants; but we also stand at a precipice. In a single cavalier generation, one click of a button, and our intellectual birthright might be lost forever. Ancient knowledge, the wisdom of the ages, has survived hundreds - even thousands - of years and comes to us because it was recorded on mediums that survive the journey through time: papyrus, stone, and even parchment and paper. Yet, the modern propensity for storing everything of value on digital media leaves us vulnerable. Floppy discs, lost phones, and dead PCs and USBs. We entrust our lives and our memories to devices that are obsolete in a few short years - a folly akin to writing humanity's wisdom and memories in the sand only to watch them disappear in the wind.
