winter hogweed Painting

work inspired by winter walk in the woods to the rear of my house in Wales. I love the spiny shapes of the hogweed. I think winter is a magical time and I have tried to capture this in the painting. I hope people will get a sense of the ethereal beauty and magic of winter. This is predominantly a watercolour paint, and ink painting. I have used processes of mono printing in the work (the ferns) and printing techniques with tissue paper to create interesting shapes. I also used masking tequniques to capture the shapes of the hogweed. The use of paint is precise, the image leans toward abstraction however. I didn't want to create a botanical image as such, but an atmosphere and sense of wonder and magic. The painting has a white wood frame and white double mount. total size with frame is 15x15 inches
