About The Artwork
This painting lives from it's contrasts. The cold and harsh dark cliffs and the light but powerful crushing wave. It is one of the most facinating things how water can be both - soft and nurturing but with it's consistency forming the cliffs. And like water we can become anything when we work on it long enough. The colors are mixed straight from the primary colors and white - without adding any black - which make the colors especially rich and vibrant. When you look at the wave you can almost hear the sound of the ocean.

Water has an incredible effect. It's as old as life itself. You can learn from it or just let it sink in. It has many faces. It has an energizing and calming effect on me. For me it means freedom - something that also translates into the paintings. I capture a feeling in my paintings, not the exact colors and shapes. And as pristine as the sea itself is, I mix the colors for the images from the primary colors and white. This gives the colors - especially the dark tones - a special vibrancy. I want the viewer to be able to lose themselves in the image for a while and draw energy from it.
