About The Artwork
Work started on Vallum Hadriani in 122AD during the reign of the Roman emperor Hadrian. When finished six years later Hadrian's Wall would stretch for 117 km (63 miles) and reach up to 6 meters high and 3 meters wide. This painting is inspired by a section of the wall that is still intact. There is no surviving definitive reason why the wall was built but many many historians have focused on Hadrian's policy of defence.
