About The Artwork

This painting has great depth. Are you lying on the ground looking through the undergrowth, or standing looking through a magical jungle? There is energy, and also stillness. A painting to meditate to. I love nature, being in nature is restorative so I hope that this painting will evoke that feeling in you too. This painting is built up of layers of acrylic paint to give the feeling of distance on a 2-dimensional plane. I can build up layers with acrylic because it dries quickly. It is finished with layers of a medium so that the colours become jewel-like. It is painted on a cradled wood panel and framed in a hand-painted wooden frame with fixtures. The painting is signed on the front and there are hand-written notes about the provenance of the painting on the back.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I drift along the edge of abstraction and I often find myself diving into the deep realms of abstract expressionism, intuitively exploring the landscape of the natural world, of body, and of mind. I use gestural marks, colour, and texture to describe, the connection I have with a place or an experience and its energy and the impact it has on me. I use acrylics and mixed media, building layers using a variety of tools such as rags, spatulas, bits of plastic, and card as well as brushes. Then I scrape back into the paint to reveal a rich, textured, and sophisticated story. There may be as many as 10 layers of work, some hidden or with only a speck being revealed. I increasingly find myself painting what I feel, not what I see. A painting will reveal itself to me and after leaving it to settle for a few days I can read stories in the painting, which relate to recent experiences. I work from my studio in The Silk Mill in Somerset, England.
