About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by the Granny Smith Festival which is a local annual event in the community of Ryde Local Government Area. The painting was commissioned as a response to this event. The painting is a multitude of layers with the first layer celebrating multiculturalism, the next layer represents the green Granny Smith apple which is the reason for the festival. The final layer is white and gives a sense of hope. It’s a layer almost blanketing the lower layers to further knit relationships between cultures. The painting is about community and connections with the hope that it resonates with the viewer. The style is abstract, and the painting is a large scale Acrylic on a Belgian Linen canvas.
