About The Artwork
"Living in the moment of my youth" is what this painting is about. Trav's was the name of a drunken bar next to Glen Echo park - my friends and I frequented the park (not the bar) and painted within. Painting with my friends during the day may have been fulfilling, but painting during the middle of the night, into the wee hours of the morning, was electrifying. There were new lights (from the moon) and shadows to capture, new sounds and smells to incorporate, and new emotions to transpire. The back of the canvas has my hand-written words, "The Summer of 1985 - the Best ever - I spent many hours with...Bengy...Mel...at Glen Echo Part, at Night - Painting this and having a Great time - all these people especially Ben, inspired me and making this painting worthwhile..." The painting is framed and "Ready To Hang." Framed Dimensions: 38" x 40". Each piece of artwork that I have created comes signed and dated, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Shyami Codippily was born in Sri Lanka, and moved to the USA with her family. She has been an artist since she was three years old, painting in oil, watercolors, and gouache; sculpting in marble; and creating various 2-d and 3-d works with various other materials. She uses her art as an avenue to communicate her experiences with nature. She has received numerous National and International awards throughout her artistic career. Shyami is also the author, artist, and producer of three acclaimed books on Howard County, Maryland: Farms Never To Be Forgotten, Churches Never To Be Forgotten, and Manors Never To Be Forgotten. Each piece of artwork that she has created comes signed and dated, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
