About The Artwork
This is the back garden. I gave up studying art at A Level, in Wrexham, Yale College. Despite being excellent at drawing, according to Secondary school teachers. That was obvious, I was a natural. But at VIth form, drawing was not taught or even appreciated. We were asked to do photography collages, paper mache, and so on. I submitted a drawing just like this one back then, but the two teachers turned their noses up at it. I lost interest in studying art from that sort of time. From 1992 to 2010 I did no drawing or painting for artistic reasons, although I did draw for manufacturing and construction businesses. This painting of the back yard is a recreation of that fateful drawing submitted to teachers at Yale. It was finished 19.09.2022, the date of the Queen's funeral, which I listened to on the radio while painting.

I draw, and then I paint. I do so naively, classically. Art is the imitation of reality. It allows life to appear as it is. Art as pure Aristotelian imitation is today a statement of political and religious conservatism. 'Modern art' is expensive junk, but my work is for human beings who admire the cardinal virtues. At present, our lands are ruled over by corrupt junk. That makes me unhappy and I have decided to work in a conservative way.
