About The Artwork

This painting is from the series “ Magic Carpets”. The Seljuks are ancient Turkmen tribes that in the middle of the 11th century created the large state on the territory of Minor Asia, Persia and Iraq. The capital of the Seljuks Empire was Konja city ( theTurkey at present time). This Empire is justly called the great. At that time poetry, science and construction were prosperous. In national culture of the Seljuks the art of weaving had special and prominent role. It is so ancient that the Turks consider a tufted carpet as it is to have been invented by their own. Beauty, originality and elegance of the Seljuks' carpets are indisputable. They combine sophistication and perfection, aestheticism and purity of lines....The choice of color palette is also interesting: each color symbolizes different idea. Red color means wealth; yellow color - defense against misfortune; blue color means mightiness and nobility. “ Legends, riddles and mysteries are seemed to be woven into the ornaments of the Seljuk carpet. The echo of old times can be heard in them. The amazing human history had passed through the carpets' threads. The carpetmakers created a knot after a knot giving of their feelings and thoughts with a prayer to the heavens and stars. To the stars that will continue shining the same way to future generations throughout eternity. To their future generations. To the stars we can see this present time. “
