About The Artwork

This is number ll in fast sketches, though it took a little longer than anticipated. For these paintings I had made a set of wooden boxes of different width and then mounted the finished paintings onto the box. (The painting itself was done on a primed book page out of a theatre history book). It is an imaginary portrait of myself and my brother with our mother at a fairground. My father took many photographs of us when we were little and I have a vivid memory of those years, maybe the memories are a blend of what my father made appear in his dark room with me by his side and my own memory. And maybe I feel so strongly about those years gone because times have changed so much. As if holding on to a memory makes the present more bearable. In terms of politics and environment. I remember at that particular time I was obsessed with Jacques Cousteau and I was tormented by his documentaries and discoveries about the pollution of the Mediterranean Sea. I remember sleepless nights and nightmares. The fairground was a place to reset my thoughts. Or so I hoped.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I have been working as a painter for the past twenty years, both in Australia, and Switzerland. Throughout my career I have been working with five colours almost exclusively, mixed or layered. I hardly ever use white, instead working with the canvas' brightness. The stripes in my META and Kingfisher works develop over time, many layers leading up to the final composition. I do not use masking tape or rulers, only allowing for two or three measured vertical lines on a canvas as guides at the very beginning of each painting.
