About The Artwork
The Inventor is a watercolour illustration of a figure and his robotic bird situated in the middle ground. The background or dropping behind the mechanical bird is of snippets from a sewing pattern of a frock coat that the figure wears. This work has collaged elements of octopus skins and other aquatic life within the drawn frock pattern. I am linking skins to garments to technology and vision. Our garments are like our second skins and technology can advance our manufacturing with Nature in mind.
