About The Artwork

This is an oil painting on linen canvas. The title refers to Cretien de Troyes, a French writer from the 12th century. In his last, unfinished book, "Parceval", he invents the Holy Grail. The meaning is that our valued desires and their elusive character can be seen as a Holy Grail. Chretien de Troyes died before he could finish his book and so in a sense he fulfilled his own proposition.
