What/who inspired the work? I am constantly rethinking Rothko inspired works and modernizing them for today's interiors. My favorite era of artists is the 20th midcentury abstract expressionists, and I am stuck there for now. I live in a Midcentury house and I go on Midcentury house tours. The vibe is from the lighter "don't take things too seriously" side. When I set out to begin this piece it was all about picking colors. I wanted a light neutral background, too, as I've noticed taupe is becoming favored over gray today. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? My hope is that this painting might find the right home in which it ties multiple elements in the room together through the use of color in a pleasing way. Since this particularly painting uses such happy pastel colors that is the mood of the hues I wish to impart into the space. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? Because acrylic work on paper is my favorite way to work. My favorite color is turquoise (or aqua) and this painting contains my favorite color. This painting is done with a red undercoat which contributes to its vibrancy. The top band is violet and the lower band is an orange which surround the largest band, which is aqua. Paint has been applied using a brush and is very smooth. Welcome to my Saatchi online gallery! I have done many styles of art for several decades, including Asian brush stroke ink painting, and midcentury abstract expressionism. I'm constantly exploring new subjects, materials, and methods. My yoga and meditation practices influence my art style, through which I hope to impart tranquility, peace, and playfulness. My preferred mediums are acrylic, ink, graphite, and watercolor on paper. I love to work on flat, white paper, which gives paintings an effect one cannot achieve on canvas — plus, it affords the opportunity to add a stunning frame. The music I listen to when I create art ranges from Native American drumming to Tibetan and Gregorian chants, Vivaldi, and singers like Leonard Cohen and Loreena McKennitt. Approximately two hundred of my paintings have been sold to people across the U.S., Britain, and Canada. My work has been exhibited in galleries in Colorado and Nebraska. I joined Saatchi in 2023.
