About The Artwork

This painting came about because of a earlier drawing I did on paper using color markers and paints. The earlier painting is much smaller, 11"x 15" it is called, "The Strands" . You can see it in my Saatchi collection. Anyway I wanted to do a painting using only a limited amount of colors and on a larger canvas. This is what I came up with, I really like it. More than likely I will use the same design idea again in the future to try and expand the idea even further. I can't really say that I have been inspired by anyone for this painting. But both paintings are not the same, they are not copies of each other. They do have the same sorts of colors black, grays, and reds. but not the same design styles. The canvas edges are painted all the way around , so this painting could be hung with out a frame. My hope is if someone see this painting hanging on a wall, they will stop dead in their tracks to take a closer look. I think this will be a simple interesting painting. I can't believe this painting hasn't sold by now, it's such an amazing painting to have on a wall.

. I paint mostly with acrylics. I like to paint on canvases that are medium size that can fit nicely in a hall way or living room to add some color and interest to a dull area. Color, as you can see by my paintings is a very important element to me. I like to expand ideas by playing with the colors in the painting. I will paint over a color if I don't think it works, and I spend a great deal of time planning each piece. I am painting or drawing all the time but many of my paintings are not finish works for several weeks. I started painting at a very early age, and have painted off and on for many years.I can be reach also with a email. I live and paint in Fort Collins, Colorado near the mountains. I like this area to live in because it makes a great place to come up with ideas. I started drawing and painting at an early age but when I was in high school in the late 1960's that is when I really started painting with enamels and oil paints. Then while I was in college I became interested in art classes and geometric drawing. But I kept painting all at the the same time. Then I realize I could paint in a more " Geometric Abstraction" way. I learn about a Artis name Theo Van Doesburg who in 1917 did a painting called the "Card Players" which is a early Geo-Abstaaction. So I put more of an efford towards painting in that style. After college I tried to sell my, but I soon found out how hard that was. So I put my art away for a while. And started working to make enough money to live on. I came back to painting again after I retired. I love to paint which now I am finally able to do. I like to mix up different styles of abstract with impression, but I almost always fall back into painting Geo. Abstraction. Many of my ideas for paintings come from my years spent in manufacturing and working in different types of industrial jobs. I am in my 70's now, and I plan to keep painting until I run out of ideas or time. I really only show my paintings on Saatchi and to friends. I have a lot of paintings that I don't show on Saatchi. Anyway I hope you like what you see and might like to collect some.
